Nigeria passes test to continue ‎US flights.

Arik Air
Nigerian planes are safe and will continue ‎to fly directly to the United States, the American Federal Aviation Administration, FAA, has said.
FAA said Nigeria has retained its Category 1 Safety rating which has allowed Nigerian airlines to operate direct flights to America with Nigerian crew.

The certificate has been handed over to Chidoka Osita, the Minister of Aviation.
Reports quoted Osita as saying that he would reform the Nigerian Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, and continue to improve the safety of the Nigerian skies.
Following the Dana and Associated airlines plane crashes in 2012 and 2013 that killed almost 200 people, many people expressed fears that Nigeria might lose its highest safety rating.
Without that rating, Nigeria’s largest airline, Arik Air, would be unable to fly from Lagos to New York with Nigerian owned planes and Nigerian crew.
